101 Birthday wishes

Hello again, I wanted to share the cute birthday card I made for my youngest daughter. She turned 22 the other day. But, I think that you are never too old for Disney! When Josie was little, she was absolutely dalmation crazy. We had so many stuffed dogs (not 101,but pretty close hahaha)
Happy Birthday beautiful girl, I love you to the moon and back.

The base of the card is from SVGCuts "Christmas box cards" kit.
I searched the web for coloring pages for the dalmations and resized them in Silhouette Studio.
I ended up cutting them out by hand because I could not get my print 'n cut to work (GRRRRRRR)
I added a few little extras with stamped images and the label on the front was also a print and cut that I modified.
Here's my girl. They sew a lot of costumes for cosplay conventions. Super creative like  their mama.
Thanks for letting me share, see you soon...

Happy Birthday

OMy daughter turned a quarter century last week. Over the past year she has gotten her EMT certification and is now working for the provincial EMS.
I love making box cards so I decided to make a happy birthday ambulance.
I used a cut file from the Silhouette store and turned it into a box card. I think it's a pretty good replica of our ambulances in town.

Happy birthday Shelby! So proud to be your mama.

A New Year Popping Up

As a creative person, do you ever look at pictures on Pinterest, or while shopping, see something and say "I can make that" ? That's what happened this time. I saw a lot of twist and pop cards on Pinterest. I like the movement and mechanism of the card, so off I went making my own.
The front panel is printed using fonts and designs I had in my Silhouette Studio library.
The fun is inside.  As you open it, the pop up slowly twists and pops up to a W shape. You might notice that the white perforated insert ripped. That's because I had too many perforation lines on the cut file. but that's ok - this was my first attempt.
You can't really notice it once the card is fully open. I embossed the numbers with the large set of folders from Tim Holtz. Now that I know what to do (and what NOT to do) I see a lot of possibilities for this card.
Join me soon, I've got some more cards to share with you.

Happy New Year

Hello everyone! a Happy New Year to you all.
I made a card to celebrate. It's based on this one from SVGCuts
I got creative with my fonts, offset and welding tools in Silhouette Studio
I did cut the whole thing out in white card stock, that way, I could add my color with embossing powders and ink.
I embossed the words with Champagne EP and the snowflakes were a special blend of Sky Blue and Shabby White. I used the "leftover" centers of the snowflakes to make the 3D stars
The cute graphic of the polar bear and penguin is from a Christmas bundle I bought from The Hungry jPeg.
Thanks for taking a look. I will see you next time.

A Little House in Thailand

The countdown is on! My bff and I are heading over to the home away from home. It's an oceanfront bungalow in the south of Thailand on a wonderful small island called Ko Siboya. I decided that for Christmas, I would make him a little replica of the house. Some of the proportions are a bit off, but I think it turned out pretty cute.
I used balsa wood for the stilts and beams. The rest was paper. Tim Holtz' Grit paste was the perfect stucco medium. Look, there is even laundry hanging on the deck.

and of course, it lights up.
thanks for letting me share my little house project. I am very excited to flop myself down on the actual deck in a couple weeks.
Until then, I have a couple of birthday cards to show you. Both my daughters were born in January so I've made sure I am organized before the big trip.
Take care

Urban Scrapbook's Monthly Challenge Kit - January

Happy New Year Everyone!
Today I'm sharing the January layout for Urban Scrapbook's monthly kit. This month's kit features papers from the Echo Park line "I Love Winter". Also included with the kit is the beautiful snowflake embossing folder. I used it in various places on the layout, including the background, picture mat, and mittens.
It's no secret that I struggle with patterned paper. I always think it looks too busy. My goal this year, is to try to be at one with the patterns and embrace the chaos. (hahaha like my brain isn't chaotic enough)
wondering how I created the blue and white background paper? I used Tim Holtz' layered snowflake die.
You can have a peek at all the other layouts from the team over at Urban Scrapbook's blog during the month of January. Don't forget to pick up a kit too, as they usually sell out!
See you soon. L
