Easter Windows

One design cut, 4 different outcomes.
I used the Silhouette design studio to create the window by welding 2 different shapes together.
Once I was happy with the image, I cut the design out on black cardstock. Then I embossed the window frame with silver EP, followed by a layer of UTEE.
For this one below, I used perfect pearl powders on the sticky side of translucent film. I colored on the back with yellow copic markers
This one was an experiment using Yupo paper and alcohol ink (pink, gold and white) I brayered over the paper then embossed with clear EP to give the window a glass-like appearance
The one below, I used translucent film, clear rock candy glitter and copic markers on the back.
The word bands were easy, I stamped the sentiment repeatedly on a strip of paper, then wrapped it around the sides.
This one I used vellum and copic markers. The color was a little too bright, so I spritzed it with alcohol blending solution an moved the color around with a paper towel.
Happy Easter everyone! Hope you enjoy the special day.

Bird Crazy Crew

I think the best thing about being a paper artist is designing and personalizing projects to give to friends and family.
This card holds a special place in my heart. I have worked with one of the gals for 10 years! The R A H stands for "Royal Alexandra Hospital" where we've seen a lot of crazy s#!% (inner city Emergency dept).
That being said though, we have shared a lot of laughs too. The crew will miss her.

I cut a basic box card using one of the plain files from SVGCuts "Christmas Box Cards"
Then I just started adding as many crazy birds as I could.
The nautical theme happened while I was thinking up a saying for the card. Crew - boat - crow's nest etc.
I think it turned out pretty awesome.

The Gold Coin Inn

Happy St. Patrick's Day! The day when everyone is Irish. If you're lucky, you can catch a leprechaun and be granted 3 wishes. Here's a cute project that will lure the elusive elf right to you.

This kit was designed by Mary from SVGCuts.com.  The box, sign and house are part of the kit, I added a few Celtic elements and a sweet little "rope ladder".
You can just see the gold coin hanging on the inside. The little shamrocks and toadstools are Memory Box dies, as are the gold lantern lights and wrought iron fence.
Martha Stewart punches were used for the leaf sprigs and the borders around the box.
I had some leftover beer cutouts (Silhouette file) Hopefully, the leprechaun fancies Guinness. If he has too many, it might persuade him to go after the gold coin. Hahaha
Thanks for taking a peek, enjoy your day, and may your blessings outnumber the shamrocks that grow.

Lucky Little Leprechaun

One more St. Patrick's day post...
I have a REALLY old stamp that I love to use for this time of year. He's adorable.
I made a shamrock wreath from Memory box dies. The word stamp is another REALLY old stamp. Anyone remember Posh Impressions? Dee Gruning had some awesome word stamps. I met her back in 2003 on a "Stamping around the Caribbean" cruise.
Here it is from the side so you can see the layers.
This next one is an SVGCuts freebie. Go to the website and click on free files. It's ready to download for you. Thanks Mary, the cut file is beautiful. I added a shamrock oval (from my Silhouette library) and the cute little leprechaun.
Happy Green day, don't get pinched. Cheers.

Spring Box Cards

Here are a couple more box cards I made with the fabulous Spring Box Card SVG Kit here
My Shamrocks 'n Snowdrops.
Robin's Nest
I did add a little more to the nest using a grapevine die from Memory Box. I wanted the nest to look a little more substantial.

Butterfly Box Cards

Hello again,
I wanted to share these gorgeous box cards I made. The SVG kit is from my favorite site, SVGCuts.com.
Boho Butterflies is the one you're looking for.

Once I had everything cut, I added color with my distress ink pads and markers, then assembled the pieces.
I love how they turned out, definitely has that wow factor.

12 Tags of 2016 - March Remix

Hello and welcome to my Remix layout for March. I am creating an album full of 8x8 layouts using the techniques featured on Tim Holtz' 12 tags of 2016. You can check out the inspiration tag here...
http://timholtz.com/12-tags-of-2016-march/

It took me a while to come up with a concept. I love the techniques used, I just wasn't sure on a starting point. Then I found a piece of white corrugated cardstock in my scrap box. Sweet! Off and running now...
I cut a piece of scrapbook paper down to 7" by 7", distressed the edges and set that aside. I took another piece of paper and cut it down so it would fit through the Big Shot. I really love the new mixed media dies. The flourish is my favourite right now.
I brushed glue and seal over the back of the cut card stock and adhered it to the corrugated paper. Once it was dry, I ripped the edges to give it a more distressed look, then glued that down to the larger piece of background paper.
I don't have the distress crayons, but while I was at the art supply store, I found this pack of 24 colors for 7 dollars (that's like what? 1 American dollar? LOL) They blend beautifully. It was definitely a steal of a deal.
I like using the Tombow glue for foiling, I find that if I use a glue stick, the foil will actually rub off. The Mono glue is a 2 way glue. Apply randomly with your finger, and let it dry. Once it is clear, apply the foil over top.

Thanks for taking a look today, see you soon...

Urban Scrapbook's Monthly Challenge Kit - March

Here comes the Easter Jack (Russell) Rabbit.
how cute is this little jack with the bunny ears? I printed it because she looks just like my Roxy. The dog in the main picture looks like my Chloe.

This month's kit at Urban features Echo Park's gorgeous Easter line, 12 x 12 sticker sheet and cool new embossable plastic from Bazzill in seafoam.
The instructions for the layout are included in the kit. Bonus!
The circles were cut on my Big Shot using Lifestyle Crafts nesting circle dies.

After I had it all laid out, I felt that the dark brown background was too blah, so I smudged some Spun sugar distress paint randomly in areas.
I hope you enjoyed my fun layout for this month's kit, be sure to pop down to Urban Scrapbook and pick up yours before they sell out. You can check out all the other layouts while your there. I love seeing all the great ideas the ladies come up with. If you live out of town, be sure to visit the blog at www.urbanscrapbook.blogspot.ca , we post all the layouts over the course of the month. See you soon everyone.
